To tackle this very broad project ask, we quickly determined that the high-level goal of this app is to create an experience that thinks for the user.
This app needs to know where the user is throughout their journey to and from the airport. It needs to know when their flight may arrive and if they have gone through security or not. Through the use of artificial intelligence and iBeacons, DXB can determine where the user is in their journey through the airport, what their needs are, and what their next step may be.
By doing this, DXB's app will not just be another app, but a highly scalable and robust concierge-like experience that will set DXB apart from any other airport.
This app is useful throughout the user's entire trip. From pre-travel to post-travel. They can book transportation, get directions to the airport from their home or hotel, set up cashless card preferences and adjust any settings before arriving at the airport.
The app modules will also adjust based on the number of travelers within a group and their ages.
Did I mention that DXB is also very large? Many of our personas for this project expressed the typical confusion and anxiety that comes with traveling internationally and trying to navigate an airport in a very chaotic environment.
Keeping this in mind, we integrated many ways to navigate the airport. Maybe you have been to DXB before and simply need a visual overview to the nearest lounge, or maybe this is your first time abroad and an AR wayfinding view with detailed instructions would be most helpful. This app would facilitate all of those needs.
